This is one of the most common and cost effective earth retention systems used for residential and small commercial projects when a proposed excavation is close to a neighbouring property.
This method requires drilling shafts down to specified depth and installing Steel Piles (commonly referred to as H-Beams or I-Beams) embedded in concrete at the bottom of each hole. As excavation progresses wood lagging boards are installed between the piles in 4’ maximum lifts while carefully compacting the soil or granular material behind the lagging. All hole depths, diameters, weight of steel beams, depth of lagging and amount of concrete required is all specified by our engineering department and stamped before any work begins.
